We’re shaking things up a little this year even as we offer another quality Fair-trade Christmas Sale for you to purchase loving and beautiful gifts.   Find quality and kind items for all your gift-giving in the Social Hall between services from two wonderful fair-trade organizations this year:

  • Thai Village provides handmade items created by artisans, supporting economic self-sufficiency and Christian education in Thailand.
  • Coffees and chocolates from Equal Exchange
  • Ten Thousand Villages items ensure that artisans in 30 different developing countries will earn a fair wage, be treated with dignity and respect and be able to live a life of quality. The mission of Ten Thousand Villages is create opportunities for artisans in developing countries to earn income by bringing their products and stories to our markets through long-term, fair trading relationships.

A fun piece for those who wonder – What does the name Ten Thousand Villages mean?    The name was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s famous quote, “India is not to be found in its few cities but in the 700,000 villages. We have hardly ever paused to inquire if these folks get sufficient to eat and clothe themselves with.”

We are excited to offer Ten Thousand Villages items for you to become familiar with this year, particularly as some of our friends from the State College faith community are working to bring a year-round Ten Thousand Villages store to State College.   You can learn more about that at the sale.
