Troop 32 Eagle Scouts
Three Scouts from Troop 32, chartered by the State College Presbyterian Church, held their Eagle Court of Honor on Sunday, March 15, 2015. For their Eagle Scout projects, Samuel Plafcan, son of Dean and Jill Plafcan, rebuilt two bullpen pitching mounds for State College Teener League Baseball. Matthew Beyerle, son of David and Susan Beyerle, installed trail signs in Rothrock State Forest for the Nittany Mountain Bike Association. Tyler Smith, son of Ken and Sherry Smith, built and installed four helmet/bat racks for State College Teener League Baseball.
Scout Troop 32
State College Presbyterian Church charters Troop 32, the oldest Boy Scout Troop in State College, PA which celebrated its 100th year in 2014. Troop 32 is a boy-led scout troop where the boys plan and run the program developing their leadership skills, assisted by a large, dedicated Scoutmaster Corps. Troop members participate in monthly camping trips, an annual week long summer camp and have a high adventure trip every other year. Recent high adventure trips have been to the Grand Tetons, Moab Utah and Canyonlands National Park. The June, 2014 high adventure trip will include kayaking in the Florida Everglades and sailing to the Dry Tortugas. The troop also coordinates community service and Eagle Scout Projects, leads church service on Scout Sunday, competes in Council First-Aid meets (first place for the last 5 years) and has annual Junior Leader Training events. Troop 32 is proud to have honored 159 young men with the Eagle Scout Award with more than 10 scouts currently working on their last requirements towards their Eagle award. All parents are encouraged to participate in one of numerous volunteer opportunities. The Troop also sponsors several family trips each year with the entire family encouraged to attend.
