Date: Sunday 30 October 2016
Time: 3:00 pm
Place: McCann School of Art, Petersburg, PA
Sunday afternoon October 30, from 3:00-6:00 pm at the McCann School of Art in Petersburg (4144 Miller Road, 20 minutes from the church). The afternoon will provide time for personal reflection, a chance to get acquainted with others through a small group experience, the option to participate in an art activity, music, prayer, and a simple meal. Sabbath Away is a monthly offering intended to deepen faith and build community. If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact the church office. All ages are welcome and you’re encouraged to bring a friend. There is no childcare, but the art offering will be appropriate for grade school (and older) and parent supervised younger children.
The October Sabbath Away theme is Initiation. How were you initiated into a life with Christ? The SCPC Men’s Covenant Group has been discussing this topic for more than a decade. Several men in our Sabbath Away community have gone through a formal initiation process as adults and have started the practice of initiating the young men of our community. Come hear from men and women about why initiation is important and share your life experiences in small group discussion.
Sabbath Away will be held next month on Sunday, November 27. If you would like to learn more about Sabbath Away, contact Roger Garthwaite.
