The Building and Property Ministry Unit is responsible, under the direction of Session, for the facilities and property of the church, including the recommendation of policies, development of procedures and oversight of staff, relating to church facilities.

Its functions are:

  1. To assure the maintenance of all church buildings in appropriate condition, keeping them available for their intended use.
    To conduct regular inspections of all buildings and grounds, taking appropriate action for repair and improvements.
    To assure the maintenance of church grounds:  care of walks, parking lot and plantings.
    To provide adequate maintenance equipment and supplies.
    To arrange for necessary snow removal and other contract services.
  2. To prepare and present to Session plans, costs and rationale for gradual improvement of present buildings and grounds. To approve changes within the buildings which are initiated by other Ministries or groups of the church for reason of program improvement, so that total decor of property is consistent.
    To enlist volunteer help where possible in undertaking repair and improvement projects.
    To schedule and organize periodic volunteer clean-up days.
  3. To receive and act on requests to borrow and use furniture and equipment.
    To recommend policies and charges for use of buildings by groups outside the church.
  4. To oversee the work of all building maintenance personnel.
    To work in conjunction with the Personnel Ministry to recruit and recommend candidates for these positions.
