The governing Board of the State College Presbyterian Church is called the Session. The Session is made up of Elders chosen by the people of the congregation, plus the Pastors, to exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of the Church.
“The office of deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ.” The Board of Deacons at State College Presbyterian Church is divided into Ministry Units of Caregiving, Service, and Mission.
An additional board was added to in 1993 with the purpose of providing visitation ministry. The Visiting Deacons call on people who are hospitalized, homebound, or otherwise would benefit from a special visit.
